Significantly, on Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had summoned Infosys CEO Salil Parekh in this matter. On Monday, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh and COO Pravin Rao met the Finance Minister.
Finance Minister’s directive
The Finance Minister gave a clear instruction to Infosys that the mess in the Income Tax website should be rectified by September 15. However, now with this directive of the government, the possibility has also increased that the last date for filing income tax return can be extended once again.
Last date extended
A CA, on the condition of anonymity, said, “Granting the moratorium till September 15 has ensured that the date for filing income tax returns has to be extended.” Already, we have a lot of pending return work. There were a lot of problems due to the error in the website. Now it is not possible to settle all this in just 15 days.
Significantly, in view of the Corona crisis, the government had extended the last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2021-22 from July 31 to September 30.
Infosys employs 750 people
The Infosys CEO said in his clarification before the Finance Minister, ‘The COO is personally looking into the matter and work is being done expeditiously to rectify the mess. We have employed more than 750 employees on this project. Even now, 8 to 10 lakh people visit the Income Tax website every day.
