The Central Pollution control panel (CPCB) has imposed heavy fines on Coke, PepsiCo and Bisleri. A penalty of Rs 72 crore has been imposed for not disclosing information on disposal and collection of plastic waste to the govt body. These companies are ordered to pay the fine amount within 15 days.
CPCB has imposed a fine of Rs 10.75 crore on Bisleri, Rs 8.7 crore on PepsiCo India and Rs 50.66 crore on Coca-Cola Beverages. just in case of plastic waste, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) may be a policy measure supported which companies manufacturing plastic need to take responsibility for removing the merchandise .
Coca-Cola Beverages has been fined Rs 50.66 crore, Coca-Cola had 4,417 tonnes of plastic waste. Which has been fined at the speed of Rs. 5000 per ton, this waste was from January to September 2020. Patanjali has also been fined Rs 1 crore.
At an equivalent time, the plastic waste of Bisleri was about 21 thousand 500 tons, on which a fine of Rs 5 thousand per ton has been imposed. Pepsi had 11,194 tonnes of plastic waste, which has been fined Rs 8.7 crore. The target of EPR was 1 lakh 5 thousand 744 plenty of waste.
Coca-Cola Beverages has confirmed receipt of notice from CPCB. the corporate spokesman said that CPCB is reviewing the order and can attempt to resolve it with the concerned authority. At an equivalent time, PepsiCo said that we follow the whole process under the EPR within the case of plastic waste, yet if the notice is received, we’ll consider it.
Significantly, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola Company make cold drinks, while Bisleri does the business of drinking water . of these plastics fall within the waste segment. All three products are very fashionable and demanding within the country.
